Foot injury forces PGA Tour star to withdraw

Will Zalatoris has withdrawn from the Byron Nelson due to a foot injury, the PGA Tour announced on Tuesday.
Zalatoris, who was a contender at the Masters last month, has been dealing with the injury for several weeks.
He played through the pain at the Wells Fargo Championship last week but struggled to finish the tournament.
Zalatoris said in a statement that he is disappointed to miss the Byron Nelson, but he is putting his long-term health first.
“I’m really bummed to have to withdraw from the Byron Nelson,” Zalatoris said. “I love playing in front of the fans in Dallas, and I was really looking forward to this week.
“But I’ve been dealing with this foot injury for a few weeks now, and it’s just not getting better. I need to take some time off to let it heal properly.”
Zalatoris is expected to miss several weeks of action.
He is hoping to be back on the course in time for the U.S. Open in June.
Zalatoris is a rising star on the PGA Tour
Zalatoris, 25, is one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour.
He has won twice on the PGA Tour, including the 2021 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
He has also finished in the top 10 in three of the four majors.
Zalatoris is currently ranked 10th in the world.
