Day 1
The Winnipeg Folk Festival kicked off with a bang on Thursday, July 11th. The sun was shining and the air was filled with anticipation as music lovers from all over the world descended on Birds Hill Park.
The day’s lineup was packed with incredible talent, including performances by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and Hozier. The crowd was treated to a wide range of musical styles, from folk and bluegrass to rock and pop.
One of the highlights of the day was a performance by Buffy Sainte-Marie. The legendary singer-songwriter performed a set that included some of her most famous songs, such as Universal Soldier and Until It’s Time for You to Go.
Another highlight was a performance by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. The band played a set that included songs from their latest album, Reunions, as well as some of their older hits.
The day ended with a performance by Hozier. The Irish singer-songwriter performed a set that included his hit songs Take Me to Church and Cherry Wine. The crowd was clearly moved by his performance, and they gave him a standing ovation.
Day 2
The second day of the Winnipeg Folk Festival was just as incredible as the first. The lineup included performances by Brandi Carlile, Leon Bridges, and the Head and the Heart.
Brandi Carlile kicked off the day with a performance that was full of energy and emotion. She played a set that included some of her most popular songs, such as The Story and Hard Way Home.
Leon Bridges followed with a set that was full of soul and groove. He played a set that included songs from his latest album, Texas Moon, as well as some of his older hits.
The day ended with a performance by the Head and the Heart. The band played a set that included songs from their latest album, Living Mirage, as well as some of their older hits.
Day 3
The final day of the Winnipeg Folk Festival was a bittersweet affair. The festival-goers had to say goodbye to each other and to the amazing music that had filled their lives for the past three days.
The lineup for the final day included performances by The National, Phoebe Bridgers, and Wilco.
The National kicked off the day with a performance that was full of intensity and emotion. They played a set that included some of their most popular songs, such as Bloodbuzz Ohio and Fake Empire.
Phoebe Bridgers followed with a set that was full of honesty and vulnerability. She played a set that included songs from her latest album, Punisher, as well as some of her older hits.
The festival ended with a performance by Wilco. The band played a set that included songs from their latest album, Cruel Country, as well as some of their older hits.
As the festival came to an end, the crowd gave the performers a standing ovation. It was a fitting end to an incredible weekend of music and community.
