Heat wave to break as thunderstorms and rain move in
After days of sweltering heat, a change is finally in the forecast for our region. A cold front is expected to move through the area late Thursday night into Friday morning, bringing with it much-needed rain and thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for our area, warning of the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. The storms could produce damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain. There is also a risk of flash flooding in some areas.
The cold front is expected to bring a drop in temperatures, with highs in the mid-70s to low 80s for the weekend. The rain is expected to linger into Saturday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible.
