Dan Biggar hailing Taulupe Faletau’s significant role in Wales’ most recent win
Wales fly-half Dan Biggar says Taulupe Faletau is invaluable to the team after he shone in their victory over Scotland.
Head coach Warren Gatland also praised the number 8’s performance, labelling him as a world-class operator.
Faletau has missed the majority of the season with injury but made a try-scoring return as Wales kept their hopes of a Six Nations Championship challenge alive with a hard-fought 29-18 success.
Gatland: Faletau’s intellect noticeable
Gatland said: Taulupe has a high rugby intellect. He may not be the fastest, but he knows how to play the game. He’s got a good feel for the game and knows where to be.
He’s been playing at the top level for a long time with Bath and now Cardiff, and brings all that experience.
Biggar: Faletau a massive player
Biggar added: He’s a massive, massive player for us. He’s played a lot more games than he’s missed which is phenomenal for a back-rower.
He offers the whole package. He’s a real triple threat. He can get you over the gain line, he can offload, and he can score tries.
He’s invaluable.
Gatland: Irregular try unquestionably legal
Gatland also defended the award of Wales’ third try, which appeared forward.
Liam Williams looked to have knocked on as he pursued Liam Stockdale’s kick but referee Andrew Brace awarded the score.
Gatland said: Andrew Brace made the call and there’s no point in arguing with him about it. It is what it is.
From my point of view, it looked unquestionably legal.
Kind regards
