Youngster leaves Old Trafford after just one appearance
Manchester United academy prodigy Charlie McNeil has left the club after just one appearance for the Under-18s, it has been confirmed.
The 18-year-old striker, who joined United from Manchester City in 2020, made his debut for the Under-18s in a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in August.
However, McNeil failed to make another appearance for the club and has now left Old Trafford.
It is understood that McNeil’s departure is due to a lack of playing time, with the striker keen to find a club where he can play regularly.
McNeil is a highly-rated youngster who has represented England at youth level.
He is the son of former Manchester United striker Colin McNeil.
McNeil’s departure is a blow to United’s academy
McNeil’s departure is a blow to United’s academy, which has produced some of the club’s most famous players, including David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.
However, it is understood that the club is not overly concerned about McNeil’s departure, with a number of other talented young strikers in the academy.
United are expected to sign a number of new players for the academy in the coming months, with the club keen to strengthen its youth setup.
Kind regards J. Winston.
