Activists Block Bus Taking Migrants to Deportation Center
On Tuesday, July 26th, over 50 activists in the United Kingdom blocked a bus taking migrants to a deportation center. The activists, who were part of the Refugee Solidarity Movement, used a large banner to block the bus and staged a sit-down protest in front of it.
The activists’ actions prevented the bus from leaving for over an hour and a half. During that time, they chanted slogans against deportation and called for the release of the migrants. The migrants, who were from a variety of countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Sudan, were being held at the Brook House Immigration Removal Centre in Sussex.
The protest was the latest in a series of actions taken by activists to oppose the UK’s deportation policy. In recent months, there have been several protests at deportation centers and airports, as well as a number of hunger strikes by migrants who are facing deportation.
Activists Condemn Government’s Cruel Deportation Policy
The government’s deportation policy is cruel and inhumane, said one of the activists. These people have come to the UK seeking safety and sanctuary, and they are being treated like criminals.
The activists called on the government to end its deportation policy and to provide sanctuary to those who are seeking it. They also urged people to get involved in the movement to support migrants and refugees.
The Refugee Solidarity Movement is a network of groups and individuals who are working to support migrants and refugees in the UK. The movement was formed in 2016 in response to the government’s hostile environment policy, which has made it more difficult for migrants to live in the UK.
