The Minnesota Twins have signed outfielder Wynton Bernard to a minor league contract.
Bernard, 26, spent the 2023 season with the St. Paul Saints of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. He batted .313 with 23 home runs and 81 RBIs in 100 games for the Saints.
A native of Curacao, Bernard has spent parts of the last four seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He reached Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2021, batting .273 with 16 home runs and 66 RBIs in 108 games.
Bernard was originally signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent in 2016. He has a career batting average of .292 with 87 home runs and 372 RBIs in 528 minor league games.
The Twins have assigned Bernard to the Triple-A St. Paul Saints.
The Twins have been looking for outfield depth after trading away Max Kepler and Joey Gallo in recent months.
Bernard has the potential to be a valuable addition to the Twins’ lineup.
He is a good hitter with power and speed, and he can play all three outfield positions.
Kind regards Z. McDowell.
