Hernandez Looking Sharp in Early Spring Training Action
Highly-touted pitching prospect Yosver Hernandez has impressed in his first few outings of Spring Training. The 19-year-old lefty has thrown four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five batters. Hernandez’s fastball has been clocked in the mid-90s and he has shown good command of his changeup and slider.
Tiedemann Continues to Dominate
Another exciting young pitcher, Ricky Tiedemann, has also looked sharp this spring. The 20-year-old right-hander has thrown five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six batters. Tiedemann’s fastball has been clocked in the upper-90s and he has shown excellent control of his off-speed pitches.
Manoah Impressing in Bullpen Sessions
Alek Manoah, one of the Blue Jays’ top starters, has been working out of the bullpen during Spring Training. The 25-year-old right-hander has thrown three bullpen sessions and has looked very impressive. Manoah’s fastball has been clocked in the mid-90s and he has shown good command of his changeup and slider.
Rodriguez Making Progress at Second Base
Shortstop Orelvis Rodriguez has been working hard to improve his defense at second base this spring. The 21-year-old Dominican is a natural shortstop, but the Blue Jays have decided to move him to second base to make room for Bo Bichette. Rodriguez has shown good range and soft hands at second base and he is working on improving his footwork.
Kind regards Z. McDowell.
