TORONTO, ON – June 29, 2022 – Payments Canada, Canada’s national payments organization, today announced the appointment of Susan Hawkins as its new CEO. Hawkins will assume the role on September 6, 2022, succeeding Tracey Black, who is retiring after nine years as CEO.
About Susan Hawkins
Hawkins is a seasoned financial services executive with more than 25 years of experience in the payments industry. She most recently served as President and CEO of Global Payments Canada, a leading provider of payment processing solutions. Prior to that, she held senior leadership roles at Moneris Solutions and Rogers Communications.
Hawkins’ Vision
In her new role as CEO of Payments Canada, Hawkins will be responsible for leading the organization’s mandate to modernize and innovate Canada’s payment systems. She is committed to working with stakeholders to ensure that Canada has a safe, efficient, and innovative payments system that meets the needs of businesses and consumers.

Hawkins’ Qualifications
Hawkins has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business. She is also a member of the Canadian Payments Association Board of Directors.
