Stevenson Ripostes After Garcia Proposes Davis Victory
Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions president and matchmaker, Oscar De La Hoya, recently predicted that Ryan Garcia would defeat Gervonta Tank Davis if the two ever met in the ring. However, Teofimo Lopez’s manager, David McWater, quickly dismissed these claims, stating that Garcia would get sparked out by Davis.
Stevenson’s Response
Shakur Stevenson, the current WBO junior lightweight champion, recently took to social media to give his take on the potential matchup between Garcia and Davis. Stevenson stated that he believes Garcia would lose to Davis, citing his own experience sparring with both fighters.
I sparred with Ryan Garcia before, and he’s a good fighter, but Tank is a different beast, Stevenson said. He’s got that power, and he’s got that experience. I think he would knock Garcia out if they ever fought.
Garcia’s Reaction
Garcia has not yet publicly responded to Stevenson’s comments, but he has been vocal about his desire to fight Davis in the past. In a recent interview, Garcia stated that he believes he is the only fighter who can beat Davis.
Tank is a great fighter, but I think I have the style to beat him, Garcia said. I’m faster than him, and I can box him. I think I would outbox him and win a decision.
Davis’s Record
Davis is undefeated in 27 professional fights, with 25 wins by knockout. He is widely considered to be one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Garcia’s Record
Garcia is 23-0 with 19 wins by knockout. He is a former WBC lightweight champion and is currently ranked as the No. 1 contender in the WBA and WBC lightweight rankings.
