Shakur Stevenson, Rabadad Harutyunyan Make Weight for ESPN Clash
Stevenson Aims to Stay Unbeaten, Harutyunyan Seeks Upset
LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Rising star Shakur Stevenson and veteran contender Rabadad Harutyunyan successfully made weight Friday for their 10-round lightweight bout headlining Saturday’s ESPN main event.
Stevenson (16-0, 8 KOs)
The 24-year-old Stevenson, a 2015 National Golden Gloves champion, stepped on the scales at 134.8 pounds. He is looking to extend his unblemished record and cement his place as one of the top young fighters in the sport.
I’m feeling good, feeling strong, Stevenson said. I’m ready to put on a show for the fans tomorrow night.
Harutyunyan (19-2-1, 10 KOs)
The 33-year-old Harutyunyan, a former Armenian Olympian, weighed in at 134.6 pounds. He is a seasoned veteran who has faced some of the best fighters in the division, including Jose Ramirez and Teofimo Lopez.
I respect Shakur, but I believe I have what it takes to beat him, Harutyunyan said. I’m going to give it my all tomorrow night.
The weigh-in took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where the fight will be held.
The undercard features several other intriguing matchups, including a lightweight bout between Frank Martin and Michel Rivera and a cruiserweight clash between Efe Ajagba and Stephan Shaw.
