Hot and heavy, 4th public camp practice brings physicality, battles
LATROBE, Pa. – It was a hot and heavy atmosphere for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ fourth public training camp practice on Sunday, July 28, as the pads came on for the first time.
Here are some live blog highlights from the session:
Early On
The running backs were very involved early in the practice, with Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, Benny Snell Jr. and Mateo Durant all getting carries.
The offensive line struggled a bit in pass protection, with several pressure allowed on quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
The defense made some big plays, including a sack by T.J. Watt and an interception by Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Midway Through
The physicality picked up in the middle of practice, with some big hits being delivered on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett started to get more involved in the offense, and he looked sharp, completing several passes.
The defense continued to make plays, with Cameron Sutton picking off a pass.
Late in Practice
The Steelers finished practice with a long touchdown pass from Trubisky to Diontae Johnson.
The defense also got a late interception, with Ahkello Witherspoon picking off Pickett.
Overall, it was a strong practice for the Steelers, with both the offense and defense making plays. The physicality was also a good sign, as the team is getting ready for the regular season.
The Steelers will be back on the practice field on Monday, July 29, for their fifth public practice. The practice will begin at 1:55 p.m. ET and will be open to the public.
Kind regards
