Spencer Anderson and Mason McCormick Fill In for Isaac Seumalo at Practice
Anderson, McCormick get first-team reps at right guard
Spencer Anderson and Mason McCormick took the first-team reps at right guard on Monday as the Eagles continue to prepare for the regular season.
Isaac Seumalo, who started all 17 games at right guard last season, is dealing with a calf injury. He did not practice on Monday and is considered day-to-day.
Anderson, a fifth-year player, has started 12 games in his career, including four last season. McCormick, a second-year player, has not yet started an NFL game.
If Seumalo is unable to play in the regular-season opener, Anderson would likely get the start. McCormick would be the backup.
Anderson has starting experience
Anderson has started games at both guard and tackle during his career. He started four games at right guard last season, including the Eagles’ playoff loss to the Buccaneers.
Anderson is a versatile lineman who can play multiple positions. He is also a good athlete with good feet and balance.
McCormick has potential
McCormick was a standout at Northern Arizona before being drafted by the Eagles in the fifth round last year. He is a big, physical lineman with good strength and athleticism.
McCormick has shown some promise in his limited playing time. He has good upside and could develop into a starting-caliber guard.
The Eagles are hopeful that Seumalo will be able to return to practice soon. But if he is unable to play in the regular-season opener, Anderson and McCormick are both capable of filling in for him.
Kind regards
