Connor McDavid Earns Two Assists in Victory
Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Oilers took a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory in Game 4. Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner was sensational, making 33 saves for his first career playoff shutout.
Connor McDavid continued his dominant performance in the series, recording two assists. Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, and Evan Bouchard also scored for Edmonton.
The Oilers controlled the pace of play from the opening faceoff. They outshot the Kings 16-6 in the first period and took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Draisaitl at 12:04.
Edmonton extended its lead to 2-0 in the second period when Hyman scored a shorthanded goal at 18:13. McDavid earned an assist on the play.
The Oilers put the game away in the third period with two quick goals. Bouchard scored at 2:45, and McDavid assisted on the goal. Nugent-Hopkins added an empty-net goal with 1:10 remaining.
Skinner was a rock in net for the Oilers. He made several key saves to keep the Kings off the scoreboard, including a sprawling save on a breakaway by Anze Kopitar in the second period.
The Oilers will have a chance to close out the series in Game 5 on Thursday night in Edmonton.
