Key Players Rested Ahead of Second Half of BPL
Squad Announced for First Three Matches Only
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-man squad for the first three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against Zimbabwe, which will be played on March 1, 3, and 5. Notably, star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan and fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman have been omitted from the squad.
BCB’s chief selector Minhajul Abedin stated that the decision to rest Shakib and Mustafizur was made to keep them fresh for the second half of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 tournament. The BPL is scheduled to resume on March 8 after a break for the national team’s Zimbabwe tour.
Abedin also hinted that Shakib and Mustafizur might be considered for the remaining two T20Is against Zimbabwe, which are scheduled to be played on March 7 and 8. The selectors will assess their performance in the BPL before making a final decision.
