PGA of America Announces Field for Southern Hills
Seven players from the LIV Golf Series have qualified for the PGA Championship, which will be held at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from May 19-22.
The players who have qualified for the PGA Championship through the LIV Golf Series are:
- Bryson DeChambeau
- Dustin Johnson
- Phil Mickelson
- Brooks Koepka
- Patrick Reed
- Bubba Watson
- Harold Varner III
The PGA of America has announced that these players are eligible to compete in the PGA Championship because they have won a major championship or have been ranked among the top 50 players in the world at some point in their careers.
The LIV Golf Series is a new golf tour that is funded by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The tour has been criticized by some for its ties to Saudi Arabia, which has a poor human rights record.
The PGA of America has said that it will not ban players from the LIV Golf Series from competing in its events, but it will not award them any points towards the FedEx Cup.
The PGA Championship is one of the four major championships in golf. It is the second major championship of the year, following the Masters Tournament.
