Dallas Outskates, Outmuscles Colorado in Third Period to Seize Series Lead
Seguin’s Offensive Explosion Guides Stars to Victory
Tyler Seguin was the driving force behind Dallas’s triumph in Game 3 against the Colorado Avalanche. The Stars’ centerman put on a dazzling offensive display, scoring two goals and assisting on another. His first goal, a power-play tally in the second period, gave Dallas the lead they would never relinquish. Seguin’s second goal, an empty netter with just over two minutes remaining, sealed the victory for the Stars.
Stankoven Continues to Impress with Game-Winning Goal
Mavrik Stankoven, the 2022 Calder Trophy winner, continued his impressive postseason performance with the game-winning goal in Game 3. The young centerman took a pass from Seguin on a 2-on-1 rush and beat Avalanche goaltender Alexandar Georgiev with a perfectly placed wrist shot. Stankoven’s goal proved to be the turning point in the game, giving Dallas a much-needed 2-1 lead in the third period.
Third Period Dominance Leads to Victory
After a relatively even first two periods, the Stars took complete control of the game in the third period. They outshot the Avalanche 17-5 and were able to capitalize on their increased puck possession with two goals. Dallas’s physical play and relentless forechecking wore down the Avalanche, who were visibly fatigued in the final frame.
Stars Seize Series Lead, Look to Close Out in Game 4
With a 4-1 win in Game 3, the Stars now hold a 2-1 lead in the series. They will have an opportunity to close out the series in Game 4, which will be played in Dallas on Tuesday night. If they win, the Stars will advance to the next round and the Avalanche’s season will come to an end. However, if the Avalanche can force a Game 5, the series will shift back to Colorado for a pivotal game.
