Giants’ GM Believes Team’s Line Would Hinder Mahomes’ Success
New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen made waves on Tuesday when he asserted that even the great Patrick Mahomes would struggle behind the Giants’ current offensive line.
Giants’ Line Plagues Team with Sacks
The Giants have allowed a league-worst 56 sacks this season, hindering their quarterbacks and contributing to a disappointing 2-6 record. Schoen believes that this issue would extend to even the most talented signal-caller.
Patrick Mahomes is a phenomenal player, but he needs time to operate, Schoen said. With the way our offensive line has been playing, he wouldn’t have that time. He’d be running for his life every play.
Mahomes’ Mobility No Match for Giants’ Pass Rush
While Mahomes is known for his mobility, Schoen believes that the Giants’ pass rush would be too much for him to handle. He’s not Lamar Jackson, Schoen said. He can’t just run around and make plays forever. Our guys would eventually get to him.
Giants Looking to Address Line in Offseason
Schoen acknowledged that the Giants need to address their offensive line in the offseason. It’s a priority for us, he said. We need to find players who can protect our quarterback and give him a chance to succeed.
Until then, Schoen believes that even the most talented quarterback would struggle behind the Giants’ current offensive line. It’s just the reality of the situation, he said.
Kind regards J. Brown.
