The MoD said the Russian jet shadowed the Voyager for a period of time before returning to its base.
A spokesperson for the MoD said: The RAF Voyager was on a routine patrol in international airspace over the Black Sea when it was intercepted by a Russian SU-27 Flanker fighter jet.

Similar Incidents in Recent Months
It is not the first time that a Russian jet has intercepted a British aircraft in recent months.
In May, a Royal Navy warship was intercepted by a Russian warship in the Black Sea.
The MoD said at the time that the incident was provocative and unacceptable.
Tensions Between the UK and Russia
Tensions between the UK and Russia have been high in recent years, following the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014.
The UK has been critical of Russia’s actions in Ukraine and has imposed sanctions on the country.
Russia has accused the UK of interfering in its affairs and has warned that it will retaliate against any further sanctions.
