Gareth Anscombe Returns to Action for Ospreys
Welsh fly-half Gareth Anscombe made his long-awaited return to action for the Ospreys in their United Rugby Championship (URC) clash against the Dragons on Saturday. The 31-year-old had been sidelined for over a year with a serious knee injury but marked his comeback with a typically assured performance, steering his side to a comfortable 34-17 victory.
Taulupe Faletau Departs Ospreys for Bath
However, the Ospreys’ joy at Anscombe’s return was tempered by the news that star back-rower Taulupe Faletau is set to leave the region at the end of the season. The 32-year-old, who has made 89 appearances for Wales, has signed a three-year deal with English Premiership side Bath, ending an eight-year association with the Ospreys.
Speculation Surrounds Wales Exit
Faletau’s departure has sparked speculation that he may also be considering retiring from international rugby. The flanker has been a mainstay of the Wales team for more than a decade, but his recent form has been hampered by injuries. It remains to be seen whether he will continue to represent his country beyond the 2023 Six Nations Championship.
Transfer Market Heats Up
The URC transfer market is heating up as clubs look to strengthen their squads ahead of the 2023/24 season. Ospreys have already secured the signing of South African prop Leon Brown from the Sharks, while the Dragons have added Wales international hooker Elliot Dee to their ranks.
Kind regards,
C. Dixon.
