Reddick Expresses Disappointment After Losing Following Extended Rain Delay.
Talladega, Ala. —
Austin Reddick was understandably disappointed after losing the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday. A 5-hour, 3-minute rain delay at the start of the race put Reddick in a difficult position from the start.
It’s tough to lose like that,
Reddick said.
We had a great car, and I felt like we were in a good position to win. But the rain delay just threw everything off. We had to make a lot of adjustments to the car, and I don’t think we ever really got it back right. We were just off all day.
Reddick started the race in third place and quickly moved into the lead. He led 11 laps before the rain delay. When the race resumed, Reddick was still in the lead, but he was not able to hold off the charging pack of cars. He eventually finished in 11th place.
It’s just frustrating,
Reddick said.
We had such a good car, and we were in such a good position. But the rain delay just ruined everything. I don’t know what else to say. It’s just tough.
Despite the disappointing finish, Reddick is still in the hunt for the NASCAR Cup Series championship. He is currently 11th in the standings, 172 points behind leader Chase Elliott.
We’re still in the hunt,
Reddick said.
We just need to have a few good races and we can get back in contention. We have the speed and the team to do it. We just need to put it all together.
Reddick’s next race is the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on October 1.
Kind regards
