Triple-A Saints Sign Former MLB Pitcher
The St. Paul Saints have signed right-handed pitcher Mike Plutko to a minor league contract. Plutko, 30, was released by the Los Angeles Angels on March 28 after failing to make the team’s Opening Day roster.
Plutko has pitched in the majors for the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Angels. He has a career record of 21-17 with a 4.62 ERA in 78 games (55 starts).
The Twins are hoping that Plutko can provide some stability to their Triple-A rotation. The Saints have struggled to find consistency on the mound this season, with their starters posting a combined 5.89 ERA.
Plutko is expected to make his first start for the Saints on Friday night against the Iowa Cubs.

I’m really excited to be here, Plutko said. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the organization and I’m looking forward to getting to work and helping the team win.
Plutko said he is confident that he can help the Saints improve their rotation.
