Twins, Guardians Face Off in Season Opener
The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Guardians will open the 2023 Major League Baseball season on Thursday, March 30, at Target Field in Minneapolis. The Twins are coming off a disappointing 2022 season, finishing 78-84 and missing the playoffs. The Guardians, meanwhile, surprised many by winning the American League Central with a record of 92-70.
The Twins are hoping to bounce back in 2023 with the help of several new additions, including shortstop Carlos Correa and outfielder Joey Gallo. Correa is one of the best shortstops in the game, and Gallo is a power hitter who can also provide some good defense in the outfield. The Guardians, on the other hand, will be looking to build on their success from last season. They have a young and talented team, led by All-Star shortstop Amed Rosario and outfielder Steven Kwan.
The Twins and Guardians are both expected to be contenders in the AL Central in 2023. The season opener between the two teams should be a close and exciting game.
Heyward, Walker Lead Cubs, Mets into Opening Day
Jason Heyward and Pete Walker will be leading their respective teams, the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets, into Opening Day on Thursday, March 30. Heyward is entering his 13th MLB season and is a two-time Gold Glove winner. Walker is entering his sixth MLB season and is a two-time All-Star.
The Cubs are coming off a disappointing 2022 season, finishing 74-88 and missing the playoffs for the second straight year. The Mets, meanwhile, finished 101-61 and won the NL East.
The Cubs are hoping to bounce back in 2023 with the help of several new additions, including shortstop Dansby Swanson and outfielder Seiya Suzuki. Swanson is one of the best shortstops in the game, and Suzuki is a power hitter who can also provide some good defense in the outfield. The Mets, on the other hand, will be looking to build on their success from last season. They have a young and talented team, led by All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor and outfielder Starling Marte.
The Cubs and Mets are both expected to be contenders in their respective divisions in 2023. The season opener between the two teams should be a close and exciting game.
