Dortmund’s sporting director provides insight into the club’s striker situation ahead of the upcoming season.
Erling Haaland’s departure and Sébastien Haller’s illness have left a void in the attacking department.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Nuri Şahin has acknowledged that the club is unlikely to start the season with four strikers in their squad. This comes after the departure of Erling Haaland to Manchester City and the recent diagnosis of Sébastien Haller with a testicular tumor.
In an interview with Sport1, Şahin stated that while the club is still exploring options in the transfer market, they are not actively pursuing a fourth striker at this time.
Karim Adeyemi, Donyell Malen, and Youssoufa Moukoko are expected to lead the line for Dortmund in the upcoming season.
Şahin expressed confidence in the abilities of these three players and believes they can form a potent attacking force for Dortmund.
Dortmund will begin their Bundesliga campaign on August 6th against Bayer Leverkusen. It remains to be seen how they will replace the goalscoring prowess of Haaland, but with Adeyemi, Malen, and Moukoko in their ranks, they will certainly have options in attack.
Kind regards B. McDowell.
