Nashville, Tenn. (April 14, 2023)—At its recent Executive Committee meeting, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) selected Michael Ferrell, CPA, as its incoming President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Ferrell will assume the role on July 1, 2023, succeeding current President and CEO Ken Bishop, CPA.
Michael is a highly respected leader in the accounting profession with a proven track record of success, said NASBA President and CEO Ken Bishop, CPA. His vision and commitment to the profession will be invaluable as NASBA continues to navigate the evolving landscape of accounting regulation and licensing.
Ferrell currently serves as the Executive Director of the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy. In this role, he has overseen the board’s operations, including licensing, enforcement, and rulemaking. He has also served on NASBA’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Prior to joining the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy, Ferrell worked as an auditor for Ernst & Young. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
In his new role, Ferrell will lead NASBA’s efforts to protect the public interest by ensuring the competency and ethical conduct of CPAs. He will also work to advance the accounting profession through research, education, and advocacy.
