The investigation into the disappearance of 16-year-old Lina has taken a new turn after police in Alsace announced the discovery of a shoe insole belonging to the teenager.
Lina disappeared in September 2023 while walking home from school in Bruz, a town in western France. Despite an extensive search, no trace of her had been found until now.
On Monday, January 9, police in the eastern French region of Alsace announced that they had found a shoe insole with Lina’s DNA on it. The insole was found near a forest in the village of Saints-Germains-sur-l’Arbresle, about 60 miles from Bruz.
The discovery of the insole has given new hope to investigators who had been struggling to find any leads in the case.
Police are now searching the area around where the insole was found in the hope of finding more evidence that could lead them to Lina.
Lina’s family has been informed of the discovery and are said to be relieved that there is finally some news.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Lina’s parents said that they were grateful to the police for their hard work and that they were hopeful that the discovery of the insole would lead to Lina being found.
The investigation into Lina’s disappearance is ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
