On the Eve of the 2023 NBL Season
Mike Dunleavy Jr. is entering his second season as head coach of the South East Melbourne Phoenix, and he’s excited about what the future holds for his team. The Phoenix made a strong run in the playoffs last season, and Dunleavy believes they have the potential to be even better this year.
We had a good season last year, but we didn’t reach our full potential, Dunleavy said. We have a lot of talented players, and we’re all working hard to get better. I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for us.
Dunleavy has a long and successful history in basketball. He was a standout player at Duke University and was a first-round pick in the NBA Draft. He played 15 seasons in the NBA, and he was an All-Star in 2006. After retiring from the NBA, Dunleavy became a coach. He was an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Hornets before taking over as head coach of the Phoenix last year.
Dunleavy’s experience as a player and a coach gives him a unique perspective on the game. He knows what it takes to be successful at the highest level, and he’s eager to share that knowledge with his players.
Key Additions and Departures
