Israeli air defenses on Tuesday intercepted a missile fired from Yemen towards Saudi Arabia.
The missile was intercepted over the Red Sea, south of the Israeli port city of Eilat. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the missile was fired from Yemen and that it was intercepted by the Iron Dome aerial defense system.
There were no reports of any injuries or damage.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, which is believed to be supporting the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The Houthis have fired several missiles into Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, including one that struck a school bus and killed dozens of children.
The interception of the missile by Israel is a sign of the growing threat from Iran and its proxies in the region. It also highlights the importance of Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, which has proven to be very effective in intercepting missiles and rockets fired from Gaza and Lebanon.
The situation in the Middle East remains tense and it is unclear how the incident will affect the ongoing conflict in Yemen. However, it is clear that Israel is taking a proactive approach to defending itself against the threat from Iran and its proxies.
