Prospects Return to Boost Struggling Rotation
The Miami Marlins have reinstated right-handed pitcher Edward Cabrera from the 60-day injured list, a move that provides a much-needed boost to their struggling rotation. Cabrera, who missed the first half of the season with a right bicep strain, is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Impressive Development
Cabrera, 24, has emerged as one of the Marlins’ top prospects in recent years. He impressed in 2021, posting a 3.63 ERA with 151 strikeouts in 132.1 innings pitched at Triple-A Jacksonville. His strong performance earned him a spot in the Marlins’ Opening Day rotation, but he suffered the bicep injury during his first start of the season.
Rotation in Need of Help
The Marlins’ rotation has struggled mightily in Cabrera’s absence. Entering Monday’s game, the team ranked near the bottom of the league in ERA (5.13) and innings pitched per start (4.28). The addition of Cabrera should provide some stability to the rotation and help take some pressure off the bullpen.
Immediate Impact Expected
Cabrera is expected to slot into the Marlins’ rotation behind Sandy Alcantara and Trevor Rogers. He will be counted on to provide quality innings and help the team stay competitive in the NL East. With his electric fastball and developing changeup, Cabrera has the potential to be a dominant force on the mound.
The Marlins will be hoping that Cabrera can stay healthy and reach his full potential. If he does, he could be a key part of the team’s future success.
Kind regards Z. McDowell.
