Move comes after right-hander’s struggles in recent outings
The Miami Marlins have reassigned right-handed pitcher Kent Emanuel to Triple-A Jacksonville, the club announced Saturday.
Emanuel, 26, had a 6.86 ERA in 11 appearances (two starts) for the Marlins this season. He allowed 23 hits and 13 walks in 15 1/3 innings, striking out 15.
The move comes after Emanuel allowed four runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings in a start against the New York Mets on Friday.
Emanuel was a key part of the Marlins’ bullpen last season, posting a 3.63 ERA in 59 appearances. He also started six games, going 3-3 with a 4.26 ERA.
The Marlins are hoping that a stint in the minors will help Emanuel regain his form. He will be eligible to return to the major leagues on July 1.
Other Marlins roster moves
In addition to reassignment of Emanuel, the Marlins also announced the following roster moves on Saturday:
- Recalled right-handed pitcher Tommy Nance from Triple-A Jacksonville.
- Placed right-handed pitcher Edward Cabrera on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
- Designated right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet for assignment.
