Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal Give LSG a Solid Start
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got off to a solid start in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) thanks to a 53-run opening partnership between Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal. De Kock was particularly aggressive, smashing three boundaries and two sixes in his 23-ball 39. Padikkal, on the other hand, played the anchor role, contributing 29 runs off 25 deliveries.
Buttler Departs to a Controversial Decision
Jos Buttler, the RR captain, got a reprieve when he was dropped by Deepak Hooda at slip on 2. However, his luck ran out in the 5th over when he was given out lbw to a low full toss from Avesh Khan. Buttler reviewed the decision, but it was upheld by the third umpire.
LSG Continue to Dominate with the Bat
Despite the loss of Buttler, RR bowlers failed to contain LSG batsmen. Deepak Hooda and Marcus Stoinis took the attack to the opposition, adding 28 runs in the 6th over. Hooda, in particular, was severe on Kuldeep Sen, hitting him for two sixes and a four.
Thakur Strikes to Give RR a Lifeline
Just when LSG were looking to run away with the match, Shardul Thakur provided RR with a crucial breakthrough. He had Deepak Hooda caught at deep mid-wicket for 27. This wicket slowed down LSG’s scoring rate and gave RR a glimmer of hope.
