Liverpool’s midfield is facing another injury blow after Curtis Jones missed training on Thursday.
Jones was not involved in the Reds’ session at Kirkby as the team prepare for Saturday’s clash with Chelsea.
The 21-year-old is understood to have picked up a knock in training and will be assessed by the club’s medical staff.
It is not yet clear how long Jones will be out for, but his absence from training is a concern for Liverpool.
The Reds are already without Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita due to injury.
Jota boost
In more positive news, Diogo Jota has made a return to training after recovering from a foot injury.
The Portuguese forward has been out of action since December, but he is now back in contention for a place in the team.
Jota’s return is a timely boost for Liverpool, who have been struggling for goals in recent weeks.
The Reds have lost their last three Premier League matches and have scored just once in those games.
Jota’s goalscoring record is impressive and he will be hoping to help Liverpool get back to winning ways against Chelsea.
Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from their recent poor form when they travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Reds know that a win against Chelsea is essential if they want to keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.
Kind regards
B. McDowell
