Background
On Thursday, May 4th, 2023, at approximately 10:30 pm, Killarney RCMP officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 21 near Road 122.
Investigation
Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle overturned in a flooded ditch. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and unable to escape. Officers quickly assessed the situation and determined that the driver was in immediate danger due to the rising water levels.
Rescue Effort
Two officers, Constable Smith and Constable Jones, entered the water and used their training and equipment to free the driver from the vehicle. The driver was safely removed from the ditch and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Cause of Collision
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. However, initial reports indicate that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to wet road conditions.
