Irish Flight Attendant Tori Towey ‘Overjoyed’ by Return Home
Irish flight attendant Tori Towey has expressed her joy at being back home in Ireland after a harrowing ordeal in Dubai.
A Nightmare in Dubai
Towey, who works for Emirates, was arrested in Dubai in November 2020 after she reported being raped by a colleague. She was then charged with extramarital sex and drinking alcohol without a license, which are both illegal in the United Arab Emirates.
Towey spent eight months in prison in Dubai, where she says she was subjected to physical and psychological abuse. She was eventually released on bail in July 2021, but was not allowed to leave the country.
Fighting for Justice
Towey has been fighting for justice ever since she was arrested. She has spoken out about her experience in the hope of raising awareness of the plight of women who are victims of sexual violence in Dubai.
In May 2022, Towey’s case was finally resolved. The charges against her were dropped, and she was allowed to return home to Ireland.
Overjoyed to Be Home
Towey has said that she is overjoyed to be back home with her family and friends.
It’s been a long and difficult journey, but I’m finally home, she said.
Towey has thanked everyone who has supported her during her ordeal.
I’m so grateful to everyone who has stood by me, she said. I couldn’t have done it without you.
The Future
Towey says that she is still recovering from her experience, but she is determined to move forward with her life.
She is planning to continue to speak out about violence against women, and she hopes to one day work with other survivors.
I want to help other women who have been through what I’ve been through, she said. I want them to know that they’re not alone.
Towey’s story is a reminder of the importance of speaking out against injustice. She is an inspiration to all who have survived trauma, and her story gives hope to those who are still fighting for justice.
