Weekend Recap
The Hurricanes crushed the Isles in the first three games of their series, securing a 3-0 advantage. The Hurricanes won 5-2 on Friday night, 6-3 on Saturday night, and 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Andrei Svechnikov led the way for the Hurricanes with three goals and two assists. Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen, and Nino Niederreiter each had two goals for the Hurricanes.
The Islanders’ only win of the weekend came in the first game of the series, a 2-1 victory on Friday night. The Islanders were led by Brock Nelson, who had two goals in the game.
Game 1
The Hurricanes took an early lead in the first game of the series, but the Islanders came back to tie the game in the third period. The Hurricanes then scored two goals in the final five minutes of the game to win 5-2.
Game 2
The Hurricanes scored three goals in the first period of the second game of the series and never looked back. The Hurricanes won 6-3.
Game 3
The Hurricanes scored two goals in the first period of the third game of the series and never looked back. The Hurricanes won 4-1.
Looking Ahead
The Hurricanes will have a chance to close out the series on Tuesday night in Raleigh. The Islanders will need to win all three games in Raleigh to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
