Suspect Identified, Manhunt Underway
Houston Police have released the identity of the suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old attorney inside a McDonald’s restaurant last week.
The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Marquise Jones. He is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
According to investigators, Jones entered the McDonald’s located at 8100 Westheimer Road around 7:45 pm on Thursday, July 14th. He approached the victim, identified as James Hawkins, who was sitting inside the restaurant with his wife and daughter. Without provocation, Jones allegedly opened fire on Hawkins, striking him multiple times.
Hawkins was rushed to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Motive Unknown, Suspect Believed to be Dangerous
Authorities have not yet released a motive for the shooting. However, they believe that Jones may be a danger to the public and urge anyone who sees him to contact law enforcement immediately.
Police Appeal for Information
Houston Police are asking for the public’s help in finding Jones. They are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to call the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
