West Indies 125/3 (20 overs)
Pakistan 78/8 (20 overs)
In the fifth and final Women’s T20I at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, Hayley Matthews produced a scintillating all-round performance to guide West Indies to a commanding victory over Pakistan.
Matthews’ Stellar Knock
Chasing a modest target of 79, West Indies got off to a solid start with Matthews leading the way. The right-handed batter launched an assault on Pakistan’s bowlers, hitting boundaries at regular intervals and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
Matthews reached her fifty off just 33 deliveries and continued to dominate the Pakistan attack. She scored 66 runs off 45 deliveries, including nine fours and a six, before falling in the 17th over.
Supporting Cast Chips In
After Matthews’ dismissal, Shemaine Campbelle (17*) and Britney Cooper (19*) ensured that West Indies cruised to victory without any further setbacks.
Pakistan’s Struggles
Earlier, Pakistan put up a below-par total of 78 runs courtesy of a collective batting failure. Only two Pakistan batters reached double figures, with Nida Dar (14) and Muneeba Ali (12) top-scoring.
Matthews’ Double Success
Matthews not only excelled with the bat but also made a significant contribution with the ball. She picked up two wickets, dismissing both Pakistan openers, Ayesha Naseem and Muneeba Ali, in her opening spell.
West Indies’ dominant victory seals a 3-2 series win and gives them a much-needed confidence boost heading into future matches.
Kind regards,
