Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck (Greens) spoke to the FUNKE media group about the major challenges of the coming year.
These include the Ukraine war, the energy crisis, and the economic consequences. Habeck also announced a new package of measures for children, climate, and the economy.
New package of measures for children, climate, and the economy
The package includes the following measures:
- A child benefit of 250 euros per month for all children
- An increase in the minimum wage to 12 euros per hour
- Tax relief for low- and middle-income earners
- Investments in renewable energies
- Measures to reduce CO2 emissions
Habeck: We need to invest in the future
We need to invest in the future, said Habeck. This means investing in our children, in our climate, and in our economy.
The child benefit is intended to help families with the costs of raising children. The increase in the minimum wage is intended to strengthen the purchasing power of low-wage earners. And tax relief is intended to relieve the burden on low- and middle-income earners.
The investments in renewable energies and measures to reduce CO2 emissions are intended to make a contribution to climate protection.
The Ukraine war is a turning point
Habeck also spoke about the Ukraine war. He said the war is a turning point in history.
The war is a challenge for our security, our economy, and our values, said Habeck. We must stand up for our values and support Ukraine.
Habeck also said that the war will have a significant impact on the German economy.
The war will lead to higher energy prices and supply chain disruptions, said Habeck. We must prepare for this.
