Green Holds On to Win at LPGA JM Eagle LA
Alison Green defended her title at the LPGA JM Eagle LA on Sunday, closing with a 2-under 70 to win by one stroke.
Green started the day with a two-shot lead, but she saw that lead evaporate as she made bogeys on the first and third holes.
She regained her composure, however, and birdied the fourth hole to get back to even par. She then made a birdie on the seventh hole to take a one-shot lead.
Green held onto that lead for the rest of the day, making pars on the final 11 holes. She finished the tournament at 11-under 277.
Ko Finishes Second
Sei Young Kim finished second at 10-under 278. Kim shot a 4-under 68 in the final round, but it wasn’t enough to catch Green.
Rookie of the Year Contender
Green’s victory was her second of the season. She is now the frontrunner for the LPGA Rookie of the Year award.
Green is a 24-year-old from Australia. She turned professional in 2021 and joined the LPGA Tour in 2023.
Green has had a successful rookie season so far. She has won twice and finished in the top 10 in seven of her 11 starts.
