Reds legend among favourites to replace Rodgers
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is reportedly among the favourites to replace Brendan Rodgers as manager of the Merseyside club. The former England captain, who is currently in charge of Rangers, has been linked with a move to Anfield for several months, and the speculation has intensified in recent weeks following Rodgers’ poor run of results.
Liverpool have won just one of their last five Premier League games, and they are currently ninth in the table. Rodgers has come under increasing pressure from fans and the media, and it is now widely believed that he will be sacked if the team does not improve its form soon.
Gerrard, who spent 17 years at Liverpool as a player, is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Rodgers. He has been praised for his work at Rangers, where he has won the Scottish Premiership title in each of his two seasons in charge.
However, Gerrard is not the only candidate in the frame for the Liverpool job. Other contenders include former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp, former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, and ex-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Liverpool’s owners are expected to make a decision on Rodgers’ future in the coming days. If he is sacked, Gerrard will be among the frontrunners to replace him.
