Pro Football Focus recently released its latest mock draft for the 2024 NFL Draft, and one name that stood out was Giants’ edge rusher Andru Phillips. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder is projected to be selected in the third round, 75th overall, by the Denver Broncos.
Phillips’ Strengths
Phillips is a raw but talented pass rusher with an impressive combination of size, speed, and athleticism. He has a quick first step off the line and uses his long arms and powerful hands to shed blocks. Phillips also has a knack for creating turnovers, forcing four fumbles in 2023.
Phillips’ Weaknesses
While Phillips possesses tremendous upside, he is still a bit underdeveloped technically. He needs to improve his hand usage and learn how to consistently beat blockers with his speed and agility. Additionally, Phillips can be inconsistent with his effort and motor.
NFL Outlook
Phillips has the potential to be a disruptive force in the NFL. He has the physical tools and athleticism to succeed at the next level. With some refinement to his technique and a more consistent work ethic, Phillips could become a valuable contributor to any NFL defense.
Projected Round: 3
Projected Pick: 75th (Denver Broncos)
Keep an eye on Phillips as he continues to develop in his final season at Georgia Tech. If he can show improvement in his areas of weakness, he has the potential to be a steal in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Kind regards J. Brown.
