Roster Shenanigans
The MLB trade deadline has come and gone and a few teams made some interesting moves. Sam discusses which moves make sense and which moves are head-scratchers.
The Great Dump
The Nationals literally dumped two players to make room on their roster. Nelson Cruz and Trevor Williams were both DFA’d in a move that seemed to come out of nowhere. Cruz went to the Padres and Williams to the Mets.
The Great Acquisition
The Padres also made the biggest splash of the deadline, acquiring Juan Soto from the Nationals. Soto is one of the best hitters in the league and is only 23 years old. The Padres gave up a lot to get him, but they have a lot of young talent and they’re hoping Soto can help them win a World Series.
More Moves
Other teams also made some notable moves. The Yankees acquired Andrew Benintendi from the Royals, the Cardinals acquired Jordan Montgomery from the Yankees, and the Blue Jays acquired Whit Merrifield from the Royals.
Stay or Go
With the trade deadline over, teams now have to decide whether to keep their current players or trade them away. Sam discusses which players are most likely to be traded and which players are most likely to stay.
Stay
- Aaron Judge
- Freddie Freeman
- Mookie Betts
