Record number of tourists
The Costa del Sol has seen a record number of tourists in the first half of 2023, with over 5 million visitors. This is a 10% increase on the same period last year. The increase in tourism has been attributed to a number of factors, including the weak pound, the good weather and the region’s growing reputation as a top tourist destination.
New hotel openings
A number of new hotels have opened on the Costa del Sol in recent months, including the five-star Gran Hotel Miramar in Malaga and the four-star Hotel Vincci Selección Aleysa in Benalmadena. These new hotels are helping to meet the growing demand for accommodation in the region.
Property prices continue to rise
Property prices on the Costa del Sol have continued to rise in recent months, with the average price of a property now standing at €2,500 per square metre. This is a 5% increase on the same period last year. The increase in prices has been attributed to the strong demand for property in the region, as well as the low supply of available properties.
New golf course opens
A new golf course has opened on the Costa del Sol, the La Cala Resort Campo Asia. The new course is a 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Jose Maria Olazabal. The course is located in the La Cala Resort, which is home to three other golf courses.
New flight routes
A number of new flight routes have been launched to the Costa del Sol in recent months, including flights from Dublin, Manchester and Birmingham. These new routes are making it easier for tourists to reach the region.
