Vancouver, BC – April 11, 2023
The Vancouver Canucks have signed goaltender Arturs Silovs to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Silovs, 21, was selected by the Canucks in the fifth round (156th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the last two seasons with HK Riga in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
In 2022-23, Silovs posted a 15-10-3 record with a 2.31 goals-against average (GAA) and a .922 save percentage. He also represented Latvia at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he helped his team win a bronze medal.
Silovs is a highly-touted prospect who is known for his athleticism, quick reflexes, and strong puck-handling skills. He is expected to compete for the Canucks’ backup goaltending role next season.
