Bosch CEO Stefan Hartung is sounding the alarm: The company has to become more efficient and productive in order to remain competitive in the long term. He’s counting on the help of his employees to make that happen.
In an interview with the Handelsblatt, Hartung said that the industry is facing major challenges. The competition is becoming increasingly fierce, and the pressure on prices is constantly increasing. Bosch must therefore become more efficient and productive in order to remain competitive in the long term.
Hartung is counting on the help of his employees to make that happen. We have to work together to find ways to improve our processes and products. He also called on his employees to be more innovative and to come up with new ideas.
The Bosch CEO is aware that the necessary changes will not be easy. We have to be prepared to change and to adapt to new circumstances. He is convinced, however, that Bosch has the potential to overcome the challenges it faces. We have a strong team and a great deal of experience. I am confident that we can succeed.
Cost-cutting measures
As part of the efficiency drive, Bosch has already announced plans to cut costs by billions of euros over the next few years. The company is also planning to reduce its workforce by around 12,000 employees worldwide.
These measures have been met with resistance from some employees. The works council, for example, has criticized the plans as excessive and unnecessary.
Hartung, however, defended the measures as necessary to ensure the long-term competitiveness of Bosch. We have to act now in order to secure the future of the company.
It remains to be seen whether Bosch will be able to implement the necessary changes without causing too much damage to its workforce.
Kind regards E. Thompson
