New Liverpool claims
New claims regarding Colombian forward Luis Fernando Díaz Marulanda, widely known as ‘Luis Díaz’, following an injury have emerged from former Colombia and Mexico international manager, Juan Carlos Osorio. Díaz suffered a knee injury during Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal last weekend and the club has estimated an injury period of between six to eight weeks. However, Osorio, who coached Díaz during Colombia’s 2018 World Cup campaign, has made some shocking claims about the player’s injury.
Osorio’s Outrageous Assertion
In an interview with ESPN, Osorio alleged that Díaz’s injury is more severe than Liverpool has led on and that the player could be out for up to six months. He stated, I know Luis very well, and I know his body. This injury is more serious than Liverpool is saying. I would be very surprised if he plays again this season.
Osorio did not provide any evidence to support his claims and Liverpool has dismissed his comments as speculation. Nevertheless, his assertions have raised concerns among Liverpool fans who are already worried about the team’s attacking options with Díaz sidelined.
Liverpool’s Coaching Changes
In addition to the Díaz injury news, Liverpool have also made a change to their coaching staff. Pepijn Lijnders has been promoted to the role of assistant manager, replacing Peter Krawietz. Lijnders, who has been with Liverpool since 2018, is highly regarded within the club and is seen as a potential successor to Jürgen Klopp in the long term. Krawietz, meanwhile, is leaving Liverpool after eight years to take up a role with the German Football Association.
These changes come at a time when Liverpool are struggling for form. The team has won just one of their last six games in all competitions and is currently ninth in the Premier League table. Klopp will be hoping that Lijnders can help turn things around and get Liverpool back to winning ways.
