Record-breaking attendance and goalscoring feats as Turbine Potsdam thrash Hertha BSC
Turbine Potsdam produced a stunning display to thrash Hertha BSC 11-0 in the Berlin derby, setting new records for the Frauen-Bundesliga.
The match at the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion saw a record-breaking attendance of 12,722 fans, smashing the previous best of 9,782 set in 2013.
Potsdam also set a new record for the most goals scored in a Frauen-Bundesliga match, eclipsing the previous mark of nine set by 1. FFC Frankfurt in 2004.
Hat-trick heroines
Four Potsdam players scored hat-tricks in the rout, with Selina Cerci, Nina Ehegötz, Maria Plattner, and Lena Petermann all finding the net three times.
Ehegötz opened the scoring after just two minutes, and Potsdam never looked back. Cerci made it 2-0 soon after, and Plattner added a third before the break.
Potsdam continued to dominate in the second half, with Petermann scoring twice in quick succession to make it 5-0. Ehegötz then completed her hat-trick, before Plattner and Cerci added their third goals.
Hertha BSC had no answer to Potsdam’s attacking prowess, and the visitors eventually succumbed to an embarrassing defeat.
Clinical performance
Potsdam’s performance was a clinical display of attacking football. The hosts played with pace and precision, and they were ruthless in front of goal.
Hertha BSC, on the other hand, were poor throughout. The visitors were second-best in every department, and they were lucky to escape with only an 11-0 defeat.
The win takes Potsdam top of the Frauen-Bundesliga table, while Hertha BSC remain in eighth place.
