Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have exercised their buyback option on defender Armindo Sieb, who has been loaned to Mainz for the 2023/24 season.
Sieb, 20, joined Bayern from 1860 Munich in 2020 and has been a regular for the club’s reserve team in the Regionalliga Bayern.
The Germany U21 international has made two first-team appearances for Bayern, both in the DFB-Pokal. He was part of the squad that won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in 2021/22.
Sieb is expected to get more playing time at Mainz, who narrowly avoided relegation from the Bundesliga last season.
We see a lot of potential in Armindo. He is a versatile defender who can play at both full-back and centre-back. We believe that a loan move to Mainz will be a good step for his development.
We are delighted to have signed Armindo. He is a young player with a lot of potential. We believe that he can be a valuable addition to our squad.
Kind regards
B. McDowell
