The Blaugrana have tied down their star midfielder until 2024.
Barcelona have announced that they have extended Alexia Putellas’ contract by two years, keeping her at the club until 2024.
The 27-year-old has been a key player for Barcelona since joining the club in 2012, making over 300 appearances and scoring over 100 goals. She has helped the team win four Champions Leagues, six Primera División titles, and seven Copa de la Reina titles.
Putellas has also been named UEFA Women’s Player of the Year for the past two years and was runner-up in the Ballon d’Or Féminin in 2021.
She is widely regarded as one of the best female footballers in the world and her new contract is a sign of Barcelona’s commitment to keeping her at the club.
Putellas said:
I am very happy to continue at Barcelona. This is my home and I am very grateful for the confidence that the club has in me. I am committed to continue winning titles and making history with this team.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta said:
Alexia Putellas is the best player in the world and we are delighted to have extended her contract. She is a key part of our team and we are confident that she will continue to be successful at Barcelona.
