Albox: Night-time Run against Cancer
A solidarity march in aid of AECC Almeria
Hundreds of people participated in the III Carrera Nocturna contra el Cáncer de Albox
This past Saturday the III Carrera Nocturna contra el Cáncer de Albox was held, an event that boasted the participation of several hundred people who came together to support cancer patients and their families. The event was organised by the El Saliente Sports Club, the Albox Town Council and AECC Almeria.
From 21:00 hours, runners and walkers hit the streets in a dual 5-kilometre route and a 10-kilometre race that passed through the main streets of the municipality. Among the participants were the Mayor of Albox, Francisco Torrecillas, the Councillor for Sports, Juan José Campoy and the Councillor for Health, Anabel Mateos.
The Councillor for Health and Social Welfare has thanked everyone for their support and collaboration, especially the Civil Protection volunteers, Red Cross and Local Police, as well as AECC Almeria for their dedication to helping people affected by cancer.
Proceeds from the race entry fees will be donated entirely to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) to help the organisation continue its work of offering free psychological, social and health services to oncological patients and their families.
The fight against cancer is everyone’s business and events like these are a small gesture that can make a big difference in the lives of many people.
Local businesses also supported the cause
